Living in a big city can cause big problems – especially when you need to create new, disabled-friendly places. The desire to improve disabled commuters’ experiences led to the creation of one of the most helpful indoor navigation tools – BlueEyes, an aid for complex urban environments.

BlueEyes acts as an indoor GPS, a modern navigation tool that solves problems for thousands of people every single day. Dynamic navigation allows users to see their current position and itinerary right from their own smartphone.
The BlueEyes platform includes modern navigation software bundled within the mobile app, and an interpreting database with stored navigation instructions. A user-friendly administration interface allows users to customize the app and access navigation even in different connection conditions.
RATP tested the BlueEyes prototypes twice – in 2006 and 2009, and both tests gave great results. The application received positive feedback from test users, and this helped to trigger rapid app development. The next steps oscillated around deploying BlueEyes navigation in each subway station and RER train station in Paris.
